Steven Lotz Source 2

Tachine, Amanda. "Native Americans in Higher Education Are More Than Just an Asterisk." The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, 23 Dec. 2014. Web. 07 Mar. 2016.

1.) The point of this source is to find how, if  at all,Native Americans are actively trying to get into higher education. It shows how Natives in higher education is a serious issue plaguing America today.

2.) The article discusses how native Americans are actively improving the enrollment rates in public universities. It says despite President Obama's attempts to improve Native American primary and middle school education, higher education is still a major issue for Native Americans. The article then quotes some Native American college graduates banding together to try and improve the lives of not just black and Latino minorities, but Native minorities as well.

3.) The main point I saw for using this article was to show that this is truly an issue in American society today. The article uses a lot of statistics about the number of Native college students as well as college graduates. It even shows how President Obama is trying to fix the education system for Native Americans below high school. However, the article highlights how the lack of Native Americans in higher education is an even bigger problem for society.

4.) This article would definitely argue against my first source's claim that President Obama was actively trying to fix the higher education for Native Americans. The first article claimed that President Obama was trying to fix the education system, but it only gave examples of lower education that was the more immediate issue. However, this article would show that this is an even bigger issue for the Natives.

5.) This now makes me feel like looking into one major question: Are Native Americans truly underrepresented in the US higher education system, or is the fact of the matter that Native American college graduates follows a similar proportion as other minorities?
